OK, so not WoW-related in any way at all, but I know there are a few people here interested in photography, so here goes.

I'm planning on taking my EOS350 down South with me, but I only have the stock lens with it.

Before I go, I'd like to get a decent long lens, suitable for taking photos of penguins, seals, etc. from a safe distance, and for shooting whales in the bay from the control tower. I'd also like a wide lens for landscape joy, but without having to pay the earth for either of the them (lots of other stuff to buy as well!)

    So... any recommendations?

    Thanks :)

It really depends on your budget. For a distance lens, I'd have a hard time recommending anything other than Canon's 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS - I remember seeing it win a couple of best budget telephoto lens articles in magazines, and a stabilized lens for £170 is pretty damned good considering it's Canon.

Wide angle lenses... well you're going to have to pay quite a bit more if you want something that's wider than the stock 18-55. I have Sigma's 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX, and it's a great lens, but I doubt you'll find one for less than £300.
