• Peter: World of Warcraft, Vista (x64) and SuperFetch!

  Just one to be aware of folks, this morning I started my PC and found that it was hammering it's hard disks, I tried to load WoW and it was slow indeed. I tried to zone to Ironforge and it just hung.
  
  After a bit of investigation it appears that Vista (32 and 64 bit) has functionality called SuperFetch, which is an "excellent" service that preloads data you use regularly into memory ahead of time.
  
  This works great for that 128kb Excel sheet of stock that you have on your desktop that you use all the time at work... not so much on 8Gb of WoW data.
  
  I ended up just suspending the service for now in Windows, but it's worth keeping in mind!
