I'm making an entry here because planning events for you people is stressful!
I understand that people are busy and replying to my queries is perhaps not at the top of your list, but so far we have a run this evening to which I have heard from barely half the group. I presume that we have a second tank, and some DPS other than Wrong Mike ;-)
For my sanity, if we could look to creating *something* that would help me understand whats going on better than a loosely threaded forum post, I'd love you all forever. I'm currently pulling my hair out fretting that half the people concerned don't know anything is going on tonight, let alone Friday when we're meant to be doing things properly.
Could I send emails to people's registered addresses when a final decision regarding who and when has been made? Might that prompt people to respond?
Just an overview that people could tick to say "yes I've read this, and yes I am coming" would be nice alternatively, or a page with details of when, where and who that isn't 2.5 scrolls of a web browser downwards in a forum window amongst lots of other chatter.
I'll help as best I possibly can, but I'm quite hopeless at development. I don't like asking for things like this, especially when they have the potential to be a lot of work, but it's not very nice having to worry that I'm messing people around when it could just be everyone's ready and happy to go but not telling me.
"And then there's aggro to worry about."
"What's 'aggro'?"
"Well, it's complicated. But loosely translated, it means 'The Priest Dies.'"

Created: 2009-02-09 15:07:11I have "rebased" the work that Dan did on the event planner to the master branch, so I should be able to continue working on his development.
As for sending emails, this is something the event planner should do when new "open" events are created, or changes to your state of involvement of an event are made, etc.
Now availability isn't directly linked into the event planner, so I might be able to do that ahead of time.
The only other thing to note is that we'll have to give the users options to not receive email if they don't want it. But I guess if you want to make that the guilds official way of advertising events, then if they decide not to receive it then it's their own fault.
If it wasn't for the raid tonight then I'd have a crack at it.
