    What port does the irc server use anyone? I am just trying to set up a different client but its not working. I am on the wireless up at the university if that makes a difference?

      You wont be able to connect directly from the uni wireless as far as I remember, you'll have to bounce through somewhere else. Should work using your superduper home VPN though O:-)

      6667 and 7000 are open, but Sara's right. eduroam probably doesn't have the ports open.
